Ultimate Arena Extreme Walkthrough
Ultimate Arena Extreme is a fighting game with gameplay similar to that of the Super Smash Bros. series. This platform game features colorful graphics, fluid animations, eight stages to fight on, and a variety of gameplay modes.
The three game modes in Ultimate Arena Extreme are Points, Time, and Survival. The objective of Points mode is to reach the kill limit first by knocking your opponents off of the stage. Each time you kill an opponent, you will gain one point. The player or team that reaches the score limit first wins the round. In Time Mode, the goal is to score as many kills as possible before time runs out. The player or team with the most points when the clock reaches zero wins. The final mode is Survival Mode. In Survival Mode, your objective is to score as many points as possible before running out of lives. All of these modes can be customized by standing in front of the "Set Up" monitor and pressing the A key. You can also choose which arena you wish to battle on by pressing the A key in front of the "Arena" monitor. If you want to go back to playing the default campaign of this fighting game, then press the enter key before entering the match.
Ultimate Arena Extreme uses a simple set of keyboard controls. The arrow keys are used to move and the A and S keys are used to attack and to block respectively. These controls cannot be redefined, but most players should not have trouble with the default setup. If you have a USB game controller and can set it up so that its buttons emulate keystrokes, then you can get good use out of it with this fighting game.
While Ultimate Arena Extreme copies the basic aspects of super Smash Bros., one major element is missing: individualized characters. Characters may look different in this fighting game, but they all use the same set of moves. This reduces cheap tactics like spamming Falcon Punches, but it also takes out the finesse of using different characters' strengths. Instead, Ultimate Arena Extreme often turns out to be an attrition-based brawl, with the character that landed a fit first winning. The attrition element is magnified in team battles when a group of teammates gang up on a single member of the opposing team. Button-mashers and casual gamers may appreciate this, but fighting game fans that prefer to fight using refined techniques may be displeased.
Ultimate Arena Extreme is a great fighting game to pas the time, but it is not a proper substitute for the real Super Smash Bros. Fighting game fans that prefer craftiness to button-mashing may want to find a different game, but casual players will be right at home!
