If you have ever been to Medieval Times, the famous themed restaurant, then you probably enjoyed the spectacular jousts. With The Lance, you can enjoy jousts right in the comfort of your own home or office (dinner not included, you can just order a pizza or something). This fighting game features cartoon graphics, simple controls, and a large number of upgrades.

The objective of The Lance is to defeat the King's best knights and become the champion of the tournament. Each generation features five knights that must be defeated. The fifth knight is the Champion. You probably won't beat him in the first generation, (it's nearly impossible) so keep at it. Fortunately, this fighting game automatically saves your progress after each joust, so you can continue on your quest at a later time if you quit.

The Lance uses very simple mouse controls. Rapidly click to gain speed. When you are about to contact your opponent, use the mouse to aim your lance using the interface in the upper-left segment of the screen. Try to avoid hitting your opponent's shield or mount. You may not knock your opponent down on the first run, but that is OK as long as you hit them and weaken a portion of their armor. Hit the same spot the on the second run to inflict maximum damage. There is no way to defend yourself in this fighting game.

The Lance features an extensive upgrade system. Experience is earned on the equipment that you use. Once a piece of equipment is mastered, you cannot earn any more experience with it. By this time, you should have enough money to buy the next piece of equipment, so it is advisable to do so if you want to continue gaining experience points. If you gain enough experience points, you will level up and become stronger. With enough experience and the right equipment, you will eventually be able to defeat the Champion and take his place!
